No Tricks, Just Treats

Our Halloween treat is that Miss Carson is feeling better, and she's ready to collect some serious candy on her first real trick-or-treating expedition. We'll take lots of photos this evening and post them soon. Can I go ahead and put in my request now for some York peppermint patties? I'd appreciate it, Carson, if you could be on the lookout for those this evening.
Happy Halloween, Everyone!

Uh-oh

We are hearing that lots around our house these days. Literally.

Uh-oh - Its one of Carson's favorite new terms. When she drops (read that: throws) her milk off her high chair, when Mommy is carrying laundry and drops a sock, when anything unexpected happens - it deserves an "uh-oh". I told her that its getting her out of some sticky situations now, but its cuteness will have definitely worn off by her teenage years.

Uh-oh - Carson is sick again. Ears again? Nope. Ears couldn't look any better according to her doctor. She's been fighting a fever and congestion and a hint of a rash. Looks viral, he says. As a result, there have been several consecutive up and down nights for the Storys. The good news is that Mommy won't need much to pull off that Zombie costume she was thinking about.

Uh-oh - Speaking of Halloween, we tried on her costume today and Mommy needs to break out the sewing kit for a few minor adjustments. Can't wait to post some pics of Carson in costume!

Uh-oh - Its my bedtime, and I'm too tired to post a lot of pics. So you just get these two:
See that tiny handprint?

Uh-oh. I'm busted!

Little Miss Sunshine....even on a rainy day!

Taking pictures just got a lot more fun. Carson is now posing for the camera! She even gave me this nice little wave this morning. Does this mean my craziness behind the camera in attempts to get a smile are over? Somehow, I don't think so.

She is growing up so fast! She'll be fifteen months old on Monday.
The fam headed to Kenan stadium today, hoping that we would dodge the rain and take in a good football game. As of the second quarter, it still had not quite let up. Carson wasn't into flashing her smile from earlier. It was too close to naptime. And there she is, passed out even among the cheers, band, and fireworks. We headed home soon after this picture and she finished her nap in her crib and we watched the second half on the couch.

Put Me in the Zoo

The Story family headed down to Asheboro on Sunday. We met Nana and Papa Ned to retrieve Carson after her first overnighter at Grandma's (which went really well, by the way) and decided that the zoo would be a great afternoon adventure. If you haven't been lately, it was really an awesome time. We only had time to explore the African exhibits, but will return soon to do the others. The stroller was very helpful, not for Carson, as she insisted on walking just about everywhere, but to carry our camera bags and baby stuff. You know, that's how I had intended to use it the entire time. She was asleep before we hardly got out of the parking lot. Worn slap out.

Happy Birthday Mom

Okay folks, I have some catch-up blogging to do. First, I would like to wish a happy birthday to my mom. She is not just a great mom, but one of my best friends too. And now that I'm a mother, I know why she looked out for me the way she did. Thanks, Mom! We celebrated her birthday with brunch at one of our favorite spots, 411 West, with the whole fam.

And of course, we couldn't go to brunch in Chapel Hill without the proper attire - a little Tar Heel blue!

Little Camera - Part Two

So Tim and I have managed to sneak off to a few Carolina games this season, thanks to Nana and Papa Ned. I missed all but one last year in Kenan, so its nice to get back there a little more often this year. Carson will be going to at least one - we think.
Cheers for the Heels!

So what else is up besides football games for dear Mommy and Daddy? Tim is still working really hard and is trying his best to adjust to his new commute to Greensboro, but is loving his new position as commercial sales manager. I have been happy to return to my weekly routine with Carson now that she's all well. A happy baby makes a happy mom, I say. I'm also taking my thrifty ways to new heights thanks to some coupon blogs and websites and Extra Care Bucks at CVS. And if any of you out there are Cheerios fans, there's currently a Pampers coupon on the back that I'd love to have.

LIttle Camera Roundup - Part One

So I finally uploaded the pictures from my little digital camera recently. It goes just about everywhere because it fits so nicely in the purse or diaper bag. So here are a few "randoms" from the past few weeks.
We visited the Natural Science Center in Greensboro last week. Carson enjoyed "shopping", but she did have to get feisty once or twice with this little guy named Warren who was trying to steal her cart. Can't say I blame her.
I guess Carson and Tyler are comparing wheels. Is it time for the boys + motorcycles speech already?
This duck actually belonged to Nana (aka Grandma Nancy) and I've even got a great picture of her on it when she was about Carson's age.

All Better

Hey Everyone....
We're happy to report that the second time was the charm with the antibiotics. Carson is back to her usual monkey-self with lots of smiles. I took her out on Tuesday afternoon to get some much-needed fresh air and you could tell she was glad (like Mommy) to get out and about a bit. Here she is taking care of her baby!

See you later!

Under Siege

At first glance this might look like a post about a fun Sunday morning at the local toddler park. But no, my friends, it is a strategic mission by this youngster's parents to bring out her lighter side.
Hi, my name is Jennifer, and I used to write for this blog a long time ago. That was before the cold/ear infection set in - that then turned into a double ear infection. The hits just keep on coming! Last Friday, Carson started out with a zinger of a cold. Stuffy nose, fever - all the fun stuff. We thought that was all there was too it. We were even saying to each other - "Aww, poor baby, your first cold". We had no idea of the middle-of-the-night fury that lay ahead. By Tuesday morning we were walking out of the doctor's office with her first prescription for antibiotics. Long story short, we walked out of the doctor's office again this morning with yet another, stronger prescription. Its been a long week and a half, and those of you who are parents know what I'm talking about and are probably (hopefully) feeling a little bit of pity for us. We are hopeful that this new drug will make our little gal all better, thereby allowing us all some much needed sleep. We were very encouraged late this afternoon, but by bedtime the fever was back, so please cross your fingers for us. I'll try to report back soon.

Anyway, these pictures are from a fun Sunday morning at the awesome park in Elon. Its fairly new with a dedicated section for toddlers. Carson loves it. It was a wonderful diversion and we have the pictures to prove it!
