The picture quality is not that great, as I took these with my little camera - but I'm just too lazy this morning to mess with the other one. Carson is 14 months old today! You really wouldn't know it by these pictures, but she's battling her first real cold, and even had 101 fever last night. She's obviously feeling good at the moment. (And Mommy and Daddy are happy about that!) Let's hope that things continue to be on the up and up!

This and That
So here are a few random pictures from last week. The first shot is Tim working on some more babyproofing in the kitchen. After several days, we're both finally used to those little plastic, but neccessary, inconveniences. It was pretty annoying for a few days though. Speaking of annoying, you should have seen Carson's reaction when she could no longer have immedate access to the pots and pans.
In the next two shots, Carson is flirting with me from the bottom stairs. She knows they are off-limits, but she loves to crawl up one or two and giggle as a teaser. And here she is with her buddy Tyler, making a mess of Katy's fridge. The child experts say that 1 year olds mostly participate in parallel play, or play alongside, but not really with, their peers. Not so for these kiddos. They are always interested in what the other one is up to. Partners in crime already!

Park Perfect
Today was just one of those gorgeous days - the first cool and sunny one in a while - that we just had to get out and enjoy. So, we hit one of our favorite hotspots - city park. First stop, as usual, the swings. Although this time, Carson got to walk over there all by herself!

Now that she's walking, there's a little more for her to do. She loves to crawl and walk in and out of the tunnel.

A "peek" inside one of the tunnel windows. And below, her peach-fuzz glued to the ceiling on account of some static.
Checking out the big kids...
And spending some time as a volunteer gardener for the City of Mebane.

Where did the week go?
So when I finally sat down to post, it seemed like there weren't many great pictures this week, but lots to talk about. Carson seems to have grown by leaps and bounds this week, and Tim and I exchange the look constantly of "Can you believe she just did that?" So, where to start? First of all, she's in love with being outside. Riding in her little car, swinging, or walking - on her own, no doubt, makes her very happy these days. If she's not strapped in, there is no holding her for long. She wants down!
She loves to "walk" Abby. And poor Abby. We should give her an award, or at least a squeaky toy. She is being so tolerant of our toddler. Most of the time she gets out of the way, but if Carson does happen to latch on to her, she gives us the "save me" look until we can come to her rescue and get Carson interested in something else. Anyway, here's a sloppy shot of Carson riding in her car and holding Abby's leash (and a bit of her fur, sorry Abby!)Her new word is "whoa". If she finds something, falls down, gets excited - she says "whoa". We figure she picked it up from her nervous parents who have said it repeatedly over the past few weeks as she has learned to walk. As in, "whoa - watch out!"
We did some visiting this week, as Timbo was out of town for a couple of days. So us girls spent some time with friends Scott and Katy and Carson's buddy Tyler, as well as the Waters family and her great-grandmother - MaMa Mary. Carson had an especially good time exploring her grandparents' big backyard in Oxford.
And today, we took a family shopping trip to buy Carson some shoes. Her feet have grown exponentially lately, so we purchased some nice, size 4 Keds for this little gal and her busy feet! Have a great start to the week!

Are you ready for this?
Hold on to your hats....she's really cruising now. Carson picked up her "vintage" popper today (I say vintage because it did belong to her mother, back in the day. No wait, I think I prefer the term "classic") Okay so she grabbed her "classic" popper and just started cruising. And since I had promised a short video of those steps, here it is!
So, since I captured this video with my little camera, I ran across this picture we took from her 1 year doctor's visit. I remember when she first sat in that little bucket - and she was teeny!

Caught Ya!
I couldn't resist. We've had a tad bit of resistance to taking a bath lately. Every time she realizes that she's about to go in, she takes off in the other direction. On this night, she was farther into the process than usual before she made her grand escape. I think she figured her grandmother would save her, but it didn't happen. Not long after this picture, she was carted back into the bathroom.
Of course, she's fine once she gets in there, and is definitely all smiles once she gets out.
My mom found this "flowerpot" hat for her at the dollar store. Goes great with the bikini, don't you think?

In case you didn't know...
pots and pans plus a nine month old equals a party! I got really tired of the "let's crawl to the magazine basket and pull out all of the magazines" yesterday, so I went for something tried and true. It kept her entertained for quite a while - I even got to bake some muffins!
We've also been spending some time outdoors in the warm weather. She wasn't super excited about sitting in the grass. See that leg up in the air? She held it like that for a while. Sort of like a "eeeww - I don't know if I like how this feels on my legs" look. She eventually settled in and got more comfortable. Look at those toes curled over!
Happy Mother's Day to all the mothers out there. I am really excited about spending my first real Mother's Day with Carson and Tim. Motherhood has been the most rewarding and toughest job ever, and I still can't believe I'm this lucky to share in this beautiful, precious life. Love you Princess Peanut!
